1. Sarah Bartmann is an African female from the Khoi Khoi tribe. She was born in South Africa and then enslaved by European men. She was then brought back to England as a spectacle. They believed she was not a human because she had a large buttocks and breast, much larger than European women. They displayed her like a circus act and charged for viewings, they called her the Venus Hottentot simply because they believed she was not human. She was called a beast and an animal. They exploited her even after her death and displayed her skeleton in a museum. She is still exploited today in videos displaying her body. This is important to women and black rights. She was exploited in an image of an animal and therefore many Europeans associated her with every black female. This was their idea of this race. This was an awful thing to do and no person should be treated as a spectacle, no matter how different from you they may be.
